Online Safety Support
We recognise that the internet opens up a wealth of learning opportunities for children and that is an enormous resource for all.
At the same time we are aware of the danger the internet poses to our children. During their time at LPF children receive lessons on Online Safety as an integral part of their Computing and PSHE curriculum. At home we encourage parents to take care to protect their online devices and those who use them.
Below are some links to provide you with information to help you protect your children online:
NSPCC Keeping Children Safe Online
The NSPCC releases regular information to support the safeguarding of children. It provides a valuable wealth of signposts and strategies to help parents and professionals access appropriate and impactful resources.

Helping parents keep their children safe online.
CEOP
If you believe your child is receiving illegal or seriously harmful messages from an adult in a chatroom or on a social networking site, then report it to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP), a police organisation dedicated to child protection.
Formally 'Think u know', The National Crime Agency's CEOP Education team aim to help protect children and young people from online child sexual abuse.
They do this through their education programme, providing training, resources and information to professionals working with children, young people and their families.
Operation Encompass is a unique Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.
Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous evening.
The information is given in strict confidence to a school’s Key Adult to enable support to be given dependent on the needs and wishes of the child.
Further information about the scheme can be found on the Operation Encompass website.
Facebook and social media use
Do you know all the friends who your children invite into your home? Are you sure? If your child has a Facebook profile, they may be ‘friends’ with all sorts of people who are not known to you, and possibly not the sort of people you would be happy for your children to have as friends.
An extract from the Facebook Terms of Use:
“This Site is intended solely for users who are thirteen (13) years of age or older. Any registration by, use of or access to the Site by anyone under 13, is unauthorized, unlicensed and in violation of these Terms of Use.”
The federation’s position is that we do not expect any of our pupils to be active on social networking sites.
