I am an adult and I'm concerned about a child

If you are concerned about anything you witness in school, or the treatment of a child outside of school, you can do one of these things:

  • Report it to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Leads (Mrs Hart, Mrs Flattery or Miss Cunningham) by phoning the school on 01452 530177. 
  • Contact the Children and Families Services Helpdesk on 01452 426565 during office hours
  • If you prefer, you can send an email to childrenshelpdesk@gloucestershire.gov.uk

The Children and Families Services Helpdesk is open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

I don't feel safe at home

If you are concerned about the safety or well-being of an adult (where children are not involved),  you can do one of these things:

If you or someone you know needs help in a mental health crisis, you can contact the Gloucestershire Crisis Teams or call 0800 169 0398. If there is an immediate danger to life, please dial 999 or go to your nearest Accident and Emergency Department.

Early Help

Early help is a service that provides support to children, young people, and their families. It can include advice, guidance, and targeted services. Early help is also known as early intervention or preventative services. 
What early help offers:
  • Advice and guidance: Information and advice to help families
  • Targeted services: More help for families who need it
  • Individual support: One-to-one support for parents or young people
  • Group support: Support for parents, young carers, or other groups
  • Parenting programs: Support for managing challenging behaviour
  • Activity groups: Support for parents of younger children
  • Mentoring: Support for school attendance or other needs
  • Specialist help: Support for developing speech and language, emotional or social skills
  • Relationship support: Support for parental conflict
  • Housing support: Support to improve living conditions
Who provides early help? Local authorities provide early help services. 
When can early help be offered? Early help can be offered at any stage of a child's life, from early years through to adolescence.
Where can early help be offered? Early help can take place at home, at school, at a health or children's centre, or at a mental health hub.
When to contact the Gloucestershire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub? Contact the Gloucestershire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub on 01452 426565 if you think a child or young person is at immediate risk of significant harm.
